SSM Advanced Diploma in Business Administration

If you are an Administrator or Manager in business, government, service industries, education, charities or industry, you may be interested to hear about a programme specifically designed to enhance your existing skills and support your future progression at work. The Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Administrative Management qualification will develop, enhance and recognise your ability to:

  • Enable formulation of solutions and responses to complex problems and situations
  • Show competence in managing and training others

Level 5 qualifications are at a level equivalent to intermediate Higher Education qualifications such as Diplomas of Higher Education, Foundation and other degrees.

Program Overview

Entry Criteria
Students seeking admission to the Advanced Diploma program must have completed their secondary education equivalent to:

  • One year of undergraduate Business Administration studies at a reputable university
  • SSM Diploma in Business Administration
  • English at TOEFL level of 550 or 213 computerized or IELTS of min. 6 bands. If English is your native language, you are exempted from the TOEFL test.

Programme Aim
The aim of this programme is to provide a framework and tools for applying the systems approach to managing systems as an integrative activity. The programme also allows candidates to consider administration in its wider business and environmental context. It introduces candidates to some of the key concepts of higher-level business discourse. Candidates develop knowledge and understanding of the key principles involved in managing organisational resources and to provide an appreciation of the tools and techniques associated with managing finance, projects and facilities. Candidates also develop knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of managing human resources in the organisation.

Course Curriculum
The Advanced Diploma is made up of five units:
Unit 1: Administrative Systems in the Organisation
Unit 2: Strategic Issues in Administration
Unit 3: Administrative Management of Resources
Unit 4: Human Resource Management and Practice
Unit 5: Case Study 2 or Project Report 2

Assessment

The units are assessed by a 3 hour closed book examination. The paper comprises of a choice of 4 questions from 8, designed to assess the depth and breadth of candidates knowledge of the unit.

Time for completion and start of the program
The Advanced Diploma in Business Administration features four intakes a year: October, January, April and July. The maximum duration of the program is of one year. Classes are three times a week each lasting three hours. School holidays and National holidays can be seen here.

Progression
Students can progress from this qualification to the final Bachelor of Business Administration Degree of the Swiss School of Management, European University of Rome.

Applicants must provide the following documents:

  • Completed and signed application form
  • Certified copies of Diploma transcripts
  • Certified copy of the secondary school diploma
  • SAT scores for students from an American educational systems
  • IELTS or TOEFL test score result
  • Two passport-sized pictures
  • A non-refundable application fee of 200 Euros

Exams will be held every month at the SSM premises in Rome or London.
